The ear of Haumiatiketike (mushroom) dominates the undergrowth deep within ‘Te Puke a Taane’. Rongo made his peace and departed, leaving the floor of the forest for the open space. Haumiatiketike cannot leave the canopy. He requires the shades and the ongaonga to protect him from te Hokowhitu a Tu. So when Te Hokowhitu a Tu go into the canopy, there is some strategy needed to regain control.
